“So what are you actually doing in CGA ?”
This is the question that I get asked on a pretty regular basis by people wanting to know a little more about why I moved to Georgia to do this program. Before actually moving here and starting CGA my answer went something like this:
“Uh I am like taking classes about identity and calling and stuff and working part time in the AIM office.”
It was super vague and didn’t really give a great picture of what it was I was going to do. To be fair I didn’t really know what it was that I was going to do. But now that I’m here I have a much better understanding of what it is I am doing and what I’m learning.
If you wanted to get a better picture of what I do here at CGA here is a typical day for me:
Morning: “ah crap I’m going to be late.”
Professional Development: “What’s time management?”
Identity class: “you want us to reveal our deepest secrets to each other? Are you serious?”
Lunch: “leftovers yay!”
Apprenticeship: “You want me to bind how many booklets??”
5:00p.m.: “Oh praise the Lord I can go home and watch Netflix.”
In all honestly I am learning so much here in Georgia. Its been exhausting in the best of ways. I’m discovering more of my identity and healing wounds that I didn’t know I had, finding out what it takes to be an effective missionary, and meeting new and interesting people along the way.
And the semester has just started! I can only imagine how much more I will learn as the months go on.
